Gloucester County businesswoman Stephanie Heinatz has been appointed to the Mary Ball Washington Regional Council of the Virginia Initiative for Growth and Opportunity (GO Virginia).

GO Virginia is a bipartisan, business-led economic development initiative that aims to fundamentally change the way Virginia’s regions collaborate on economic and workforce development activities.

Heinatz, a Gloucester County resident since 1992, was tapped to join the 16-member council that governs GO Virginia Region 6, which covers the Fredericksburg area, the Northern Neck, and the Middle Peninsula.

She is principal at Consociate Media, a marketing communications and public relations firm she founded in 2011. Earlier, Heinatz served as a newspaper reporter, Strategic Communications and Media Training Consultant / Contractor for the U.S. Defense Department and then led the corporate communications for a large health care organization.

Heinatz understands the power of communication and how it can foster collaboration across a broad spectrum of interests and backgrounds – a key tenet of the GO Virginia charter.

“It is an honor to have been selected to serve on the Mary Ball Washington Regional Council of GO Virginia and to put my skills and experience to work,” Heinatz said. “Finding innovative solutions to growing Virginia’s economy is as important a mission as there is. This isn’t just about creating higher paying jobs. At its root, this effort is about improving the lives of all Virginians, and it starts right here at home, in our region. I’m excited to engage with the rest of the Region 6 Council and beyond to fully leverage the framework that GO Virginia has established to drive fruitful collaboration – ultimately creating more higher-paying jobs across the Commonwealth.”

Region 6 specifically consists of the city of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Westmoreland.

The George Washington Regional Commission is the Support Organization and Fiscal Agent for the Region 6 Council. For more information www.govirginia.org/
